If you're seeking food assistance in Newton, Jasper, or Walton County, Georgia, there are several resources available to support you and your family.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
SNAP, commonly known as Food Stamps, provides financial assistance to low-income individuals and families to purchase nutritious food.

Eligibility and Benefits
Your SNAP benefit amount is determined by your household's income; higher earnings may result in reduced benefits. As of 2025, the maximum SNAP benefit for a single individual with no income is approximately $200 per month. Families—defined as individuals who are legally married and/or have children under 18 and prepare meals together—may qualify for higher benefits.
Income Guidelines
Eligibility for SNAP is based on the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG). Below are the annual and monthly income limits for various household sizes:

Note: Income limits are subject to change. It's advisable to apply even if your income is close to the limit, as deductions for expenses like rent, utilities, child support, and childcare may affect eligibility. Additionally, individuals receiving disability income from Social Security or SSI, as well as seniors over 60, can use medical expenses to potentially qualify for increased SNAP benefits.
